CuDECO acquired the tenement from the private owners in November 2005.
The Company’s initial focus was on identifying oxide ore for the Mt Norma operations. In this regard, shallow drilling (which commenced early in 2006) was carried out over the Southern Rocklands area. A resource of 5.5 million tonnes at .77%Cu was reported on 3rd May 2006.
During the programme, Drill Hole DORC63 was drilled under some old workings (White Christmas) on a parallel structure, 300m to the north North West of the Southern Rocklands deposit. DORC63 gave interesting but not spectacular results.
After several more holes in the Southern Rocklands and Central Rocklands zones, DORC78 was drilled along strike and on the western side of Morris Creek, under some old workings referred to as the Alex Mine.
DORC78 returned spectacular copper oxide and native copper results.
CuDECO has now drilled over 250 reverse circulation holes in the Las Minerale and Southern Rocklands mineralised zones. In addition, more than 25 diamond core drill holes have been drilled.
Las Minerale strike length being tested is currently 1,250m and it is divided into 3 zones, West, Central and East. Las Minerale central lies between 11,700E and 10,900E.
